Tong Zhang is a Chinese artist based in the United States whose paintings begin with the quiet, often overlooked moments of everyday life. He explores how memory, perception, and imagination can shift the way we experience the world, allowing ordinary moments to hold traces of what has been remembered, felt, or imagined. Moving between the familiar and the uncertain, Zhang leaves space for ambiguity, inviting viewers to linger with what cannot be easily explained.

Zhang’s work has been exhibited internationally in Italy, the United Kingdom, China, and the United States. He is a two-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (2017, 2018) and has completed a residency at the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation. He holds MFAs from Syracuse University and the China Academy of Art and a BFA from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts.
